Onstage next week

Thurs 2 Dec: The Fruitful Earth/ Pat Smyth
Inspired by the rock’n’roll bands of the late 60’s and early 70’s The Fruitful Earth are an earthy, soulful, female vocal and piano led band. You’ll hear shades of Carole King, Stevie Nicks and Joni Mitchell in their uptempo, rocking, classic sounding songs. Great musicianship underpins tight arrangements and melodies that will stick with you for days.
Pat Smyth, former songwriter with the sublime Smokey Angle Shades, plays a solo acoustic gig this evening, a real treat. Songs of rare quality and beauty sung with sizeable charisma, he’s an artist not to be missed.
Pat Smyth onstage at 8.45 pm
The Fruitful Earth onstage at 9.45 pm

Sat 4 Dec: Phillious Williams/ Skinny Lister

Phillious Williams is a  songwriter extraordinaire, singer of dark mysterious ballads and rock’n’roll noir. Echoes of Jacques Brel  and the drama of Spector’s teen symphonies rattle through his tightly wound vignettes, performed impeccably by his fine band of double bass, organ, guitar and drums.

Skinny Lister can be anything up to a seven piece- their sound is very much of the new alt-folk UK scene, energetic, anthemic acoustic songs based around ukelele, acoustic guitar and accordian, all with a sweet pop sensibility.
